Campus Development

The Campus Development team provides overall project management on the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses, as well as renovations within off-campus leased space.


Some of our responsibilities include:

  • Managing budgets and schedules for all major development projects including assistance of capital budget development. 
  • Managing budgets and schedules small/medium capital projects to include:
    • Determining client needs
    • Developing the project capital budget with the sponsoring department
    • Design management
    • Municipal permit acquisition
    • Contractor bidding
    • Construction management
    • Turnover to the project occupants
    • Systems training and warranty management
  • Leading feasibility and design with other stakeholder groups (User Group, Division of Information Technologies, Division of Safety and Security, Facilities Services, university leadership)
  • Supporting various university groups on project outreach and communications efforts
  • Assistance for capital budget development
  • Cost estimates for design
  • Life-cycle cost analyses, value engineering, design reviews, and constructability reviews
  • Assistance with warranty issues, the commissioning process, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifications
  • Consulting and technical support for feasibility studies, engineering and forensic investigations, building condition assessments, disaster recovery, building code compliance, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), accessibility compliance campus plan compliance, contractor and consultant qualifications review, and other building-related studies and investigations
