Mixed papers, such as office paper, junk mail, phone books, and newspapers can be recycled if they are free of food and other contaminants (i.e., no papers soiled with oil).
- Consumers must place mixed papers in designated receptacles. Two types of receptacles are in use:
- Those located in common areas are usually labeled “paper” have a slot in the top to indicate that they are for paper only.
- An unlabeled, small, blue, plastic container is usually placed next to the desk in each faculty and staff office and is intended for recycling of papers.
- If a large quantity of papers or phone books needs to be collected, and does not fit into the designated paper receptacles, please submit a FIXit request for a special pickup.
Note: Hardcover/bound books cannot be recycled and therefore are not to be placed in recycling containers; these materials should be donated or placed in trash cans.
